Megaman 9 is slated to be released soon for Wii, Xbox360 and Playstation 3 gaming consoles. This makes Mosquixel very happy. For those of you who don't know, Megaman 9 is being developed to look, play and feel just like it's early brothers for the NES (specifically 1, 2 and 3). I hear that Capcom even put in the option for the game to behave like a NES game and flicker when there are an abundance of enemies on the screen.
This is a great thing indeed, as far too often gamers of this generation rely on graphics when rating a games goodness, rather than it's gameplay. However, gamers of the Atari/NES generation (such as myself), have expressed themselves very loudly all over the internets about their excitement about Megaman 9.
I believe that Megaman 9 is going to be a hit, scratch that, insane download-a-thon thus opening up the gates for a gaming revolution. I predict that in the coming year we will see very many neo-retro games designed with not graphics, but gameplay in mind. I for one am starting to get sick of looking at handhelds to fill my side-scrolling, platform jumping desires; and finally I can sit indian style in front of the TV for a reason again.
